Intelligent Multi-Cycle Circulating Device ICWD


Mitigating drilling risks before they get out of hands means the difference between a well that is constructed efficiently and one troubled with non-productive time (NPT). Risks are magnified in complex applications such as extended-reach drilling (ERD), tortuous well paths, and need for spotting lost circulation material (LCM) or placement of cement plug. iCWD Agile activation system allows the driller to operate the tool efficiently and effectively.
Restrictive BHA limits the flow rate and annular velocity required to clean the hole during drilling or displacement operations. BHA restrictions can also limit the size and concentration of LCM and wellbore strengthening material needed to seal troublesome zones. The iCWD helps driller reduce risks associated with hole cleaning by improving annular fluid velocity with the ability to run multiple iCWD tools in the same BHA in hole cleaning mode. Each iCWD tool can be operated independent of all other tools, allowing the driller to optimize hole cleaning hydraulics. iCWD tools can be configured with suitable side port nozzle to achieve the desired pressure drop and flow split according to well program.
Agile Activation system allows the operator to change iCWD valve position in as fast as 3 minutes. The iCWD Agile Activation system enables driller to send the desired order to the iCWD using the variation of RPM, or variation of flow rate. When circulation is not possible or when string is stuck, iCWD can be operated to assist driller resume circulation using pump pressure without need for flow. These unique features enable driller to overcome circulating challenges efficiently and effectively irrespective of tool depth or well profile.
